About us

The primary goals of the WIRTH project are to:

(1) establish the identity and whereabouts of the most recent common ancestor (MRCA) of J-L556, currently estimated to have lived in 750 CE,

(2) discover the paternal lineages of which the MRCA of J-L556 is the progenitor and correspondingly build a WIRTH Y-tree. The most recent version is accessible to WIRTH members only.

The current hypothesis about the MRCA of J-L556 is that he was a Sephardic Rabbi Halevi.

In addition, we would like to determine the identity and whereabouts of J-L560, the parent haplogroup of J-L556. The MRCA of J-L560 is currently estimated to have lived in 1450 BCE.
