Initial test between confirmed descendants of the HATTAWAY family of Jones Co, GA and the HADAWAY family of Cobb Co, GA show a Genetic Distance of " 1 ". As such, a Common Ancestor is pretty much proven. Subsequent research reveals that David & Thomas are brothers. They came from Halifax Co, NC in the 1790's, and they are the sons of William & Elizabeth HATTAWAY.
A descendant of Thomas Clinton Hattaway (b. 1821; GA - d. 1903; AL) is an exact match with the descendant of Thomas listed above. As such, this family probably descends from William Hattaway of Halifax Co, NC (d. 1795), but further evidence is certainly needed to make such a claim.
Additionally, two distant descendants of Francis Hattaway (b. ABT 1694; Pitt Co, NC) have also joined. They are both exact 12-Marker matches to each other, and they show a Genetic Distance of "1" from the descendant of Thomas listed above. As such, all of these participants undoubtedly share a Common Ancestor. At this time, we suspect that Francis HATTAWAY (b.1695) is the ancestor of all Pitt Co, NC HATTAWAYs, but he may have also had a brother (or brothers).
Now, we need the participation of a HADDAWAY descendant with confirmed ancestry in Talbot Co, Maryland. We also expect a family connection of the Pitt Co, NC clan to Rowland HADDAWAY, who immigrated to Virginia, but moved to Talbot Co, MD in the 1650's.
And finally, we would love for a descendant of the HADAWAY clan from Kent, England to step up and participate.
Of course, additional Georgia & Alabama participants are more than welcome.
