BIG Y Results as of February 15, 2015

Here is a summary of the three Jewish R-M124 BIG Y results to date (one each from Jewish Groups A1, A2, and A3). These results

show that Eastern European Ashkenazi Groups A1 and A2 are closely related, and diverged from Mizrachi Group A3 perhaps 1000-1500

years ago. After this split occurred, these groups continued to develop their own unique SNPs. The number of unique SNPs can be used to

approximate the dates of lineage divergence.

The first group of SNPs labeled "R2 F1758 Jewish Lineage" were found in all three BIG Y tests and indicate these SNPs are common

to Groups A1, A2, and A3. They occurred before the groups diverged and are possibly downstream from F1758 (since there are also
several non-Jewish F1758 FTDNA results from the Middle East that may not share these SNPs).

The second group labeled "R2 F1758 Ashkenazi A1/A2" were found in both the A1 and A2 test results, but not in A3, so are likely to be
common to Groups A1 and A2. They probably occurred after A1 and A2 diverged from A3.

The third group labeled "R2 F1758 Ashkenazi A1 Only" were found only in A1 and are possibly unique to that group. They probably occurred

after the divergence of A1 and A2. If you are in Group A1 you may want to consider ordering one or more of the SNPs in green (specifically
FGC13195, FGC13214, and FGC13223 - these are available as custom order SNPs from FTDNA).

The fourth group labeled "R2 F1758 Ashkenazi A2 Only" were found only in A2 and are possibly unique to that group.They probably occurred

after the divergence of A1 and A2. If you are in Group A2 you may want to consider ordering one or more of the SNPs in green (specifically
A691 - this is available as a custom order SNP from FTDNA).

The fifth group labeled "R2 F1758 Mizrachi A3 Only" were found only in A3 and are possibly unique to that group. They probably occurred in A3

after the divergence of A1 and A2 from A3. These SNPs are not available as custom orders and there is not enough information known yet to
make any recommendations on these SNPs or to request that they be made available for test.

SNPs shown in red are located in problematic regions of the Y chromosome, but are shown below for completeness as they were reported as
derived in BIG Y test results.

Position = GRCh37/hg19 reference location of the SNP

SNP Name = name of the SNP if it has been assigned one

Type of SNP = category of SNP as per the definitions above

Reference = value of the SNP according to the reference sequence (usually the non-mutated "ancestral" value and signified by a - sign)

Genotype = value of the SNP when different than the reference sequence (usually a mutated "derived" value and signified by a + sign)
