The Stofflet surname is uncommon and its exact origin is not definitively known. Two major families seem to have migrated to the United States, one in Pennsylvania (especially Northampton and Monroe counties) and one in Wisconsin. Researchers have hit a brick wall in determining whether the Stofflets are French, German, neither or both (some claim an origin in the Alsace-Lorraine area.)
